It’s really one of my bucket list items to do this! Spending a night in a dessert must be such an incredible experience. The sunset looks so romantic!

What a beautifully written piece. You really evoked the desert. I have to say, you are much braver than I would be tearing around on a quad bike (I was scared when it was a professional).

Thank you :) It was not that bad – and once I had no choice, there was only one way to go (up? down? not sure…)

aww! lovely experience! truly thrilling! if I haven’t had stroke, I would probably have done dune bashing and other activities in the desert when I visited Dubai! :D

  4. I recently experienced dune bashing in Dubai and it was awesome! It’s the kind of adventure you’ll have to take advantage when you are in the middle east.

I have been to the sand dunes but never done dune bashing quad. But from your post, it seems like an interesting activity and definitely try this when I go to any sand dunes. Thanks for sharing.

This seems such a cool experience to do! I’m kind of scared of driving quod bikes tho.. I’ve been in the desert before but only on camelback, which was very nice as well!

wow the sands are so pretty! Sounds like so much fun to go quad biking! I want to go!

You had me chuckling at some point in your post. haha.. I love how the driver took the challenge of ensuring that you saw the sunset. It must’ve been such a bumpy and fast ride indeed! LOL.. I’ve tried riding through sand dunes before and it was pretty exhilarating. Imagine if it was twice as fast! :D.

Quad biking sounds like a lot of fun (and maybe a bit tiring and challenging too..) Was it hard to manoeuvre? I don’t know how to ride a motorbike so this will be very foreign for me. LOL.

    • Teja says:

Manoeuvring was a bit tricky, yes. But only because the quad responds to every tilt on the ground. Now, not that I know how to drive a motorbike, but I think quads are easier. It’s very stable, you won’t tip over. The quad just kinda goes off somewhere you didn’t intend!

  9. OMG, I’m just loving this crazy biking idea in the desert. I heard something like that in Dubai also. I wish to make a trip one day to experience this adventure. Truly awesome! :)

This looks like an incredible experience! I have dreamed of doing something like this for ages! I hope to get to experience it one day!

What an experience. The sand is so structured (I don’t know how to put it otherwise), it seems someone has actually arranged the dunes in that perfect formation like an artwork! And it’s a coincidence that the beginning of this year, I was in dune bashing in Thar Desert in India. And I know what an adventure experience it is.

  12. Dune bashing and Quad Biking in Wahibi Sand, sounds interesting, I thought before reading and I wasn’t disappointed! I also want to do a dessert activity with my friends, but they just don’t feel excited as I am about it, wish I was in your group, Teja. Chian is quite courageous, and you got me laughing at “riding to her doom.” Lol. And sunrise watching on a camel sounds like the perfect parting away gift. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I’m glad I read it.

I know exactly the feeling. I had to wait ages until the stars aligned and I got to do this with some like-minded work friends. My non-work friends are not keen about these sorts of things either! Actually that’s why I finally started travelling solo. I should have done it much sooner.
