It looks like a very relaxed region to leave behind the loud city for some days.

I love the Peak District, especially the area around Castleton. We visited the Blue John cave a couple of years ago, beautiful place and gorgeous setting.

The random stuff is often the best. This just further underscores how foreign Britain remains to me. I must get out of the city next time.

I live close to the Peak District and it’s such a beautiful part of the country. I’ve not been to the Blue John Cavern but it looks like a good experience.

  5. I love learning about locale-specific hidden gems like these, and isn’t it the ones that seem like they’ll be a waste of time that turn out to be the more fascinating??

Right? It’s like taking the “Door number 3” – the random stuff is sometimes the best!

It’s really interesting that you’re volunteering in India. I didn’t know there was a portion of the forest where it was sacred and you had to take off your shoes to show humility. Nature truly can be so humbling. Can’t wait to read about that experience.

Aww I love Derbyshire! I haven’t had the chance to really explore it, so this was a delightful read! The Well Dressing is definitely something I hadn’t heard of… rather fascinating actually hahaha.

    • Teja says:

I don’t blame you, Derbyshire is a surprise package! Oh but my ex-colleague is super-proud if people like his home district. :)

    • Teja says:

I would never have looked for it if I didn’t know someone who was actually from there! Local knowledge, hey?
