Don’t call me an angel. Don’t look
Right into the light.
It will wash in your every nook
And does not need your sight.
Rather see the vessel. Can you see
Where the light has soldered gold?
The cracks in my eyes give history
Of a woman you can hold.
In a world that can only settle
For the very latest model
Captive of the light, can you be
Wabi-sabi?

@alunanresort has a coral restoration project that they’re very proud of. The tv at the restaurant plays information about it on a loop.It was an ambition that they’d had for years. The hotel manager told me about it all the way back in 2015, and when I returned last year, it was thriving and a marine biologist is on the staff. The project collects fragments of coral that have broken off from around the islands, and fix them to concrete pots, which are then slotted into concrete bars to keep them stable underwater. Once all slots are filled, the concrete bar is lowered in the nursery area off the beach. The propagated coral can then be ‘replanted’ to help damaged reefs recover. You can adopt pieces of coral. I chose one for myself and another for my friend @kuacicoklat. Unfortunately, I haven’t got underwater photos of them since I had trouble with my camera, and anyway the visibility was not very good. But I snorkeled above the divers who took our corals down.#alunancoralproject #alunancoralreefrescueproject #coralnursery #coralrestoration #adoptacoral #coraladoption🪸 🪸 🪸#marinepark #perhentianmarinepark #regenerativetourism #sustainabletourism #generationrestoration#tejainmalaysia #inspiringinsightfultravel ... I'm a bit late to the hype, but that's what happens when you have a day job. I watched this rare Malaysian film based on true deeds of the Malaysian Armed Forces during the events previously told (but with this part missing) in the movie Black Hawk Down. I promised myself, and a couple of friends, that I would write my thoughts as a movie review, but only just managed to get around to it a couple months after watching it.But hey, at least it's not two years late, as is usually the case with my travel articles!#MALBATTMisiBakara #filmreview #UNPeacekeeping#WorldWednesday ... [Film Review] MALBATT: Misi Bakara is a film about the Malaysian part of the rescue mission, in Hollywood's Black Hawk Down.
First had to google “wabi-sabi”… It’s a beautiful poetry. It might be difficult to tell oneself, but it’s totally okay to be imperfect :)
I did too. And then I was so taken by the philosophy, especially when juxtaposed with our present-day intolerance of flaws – what with the beauty pressure and the age pressure, and the rejection of the experience of suffering and pain etc. How people search in futility for the perfect in the mortal, because the Eternal has been rejected…
The poem is quite intriguing. The words evoke a sense of mystery and romance which keeps you riveted to the poem. Loved reading it.
Thank you.
