Disclosures

Teja on the Horizon focuses on being a travel blog independently promoting sustainability, world connections, and personal growth through story telling.

Consequently, Teja on the Horizon does not receive or solicit free products, upgrades, comped rooms, etc. in exchange for promotions. Any businesses or products mentioned in this Website is therefore entirely my personal opinion and recommendation, for which I receive no benefit.

If any businesses or products mentioned in my Content are affiliated with person(s) having personal ties to me, disclosures will be included as and when such mentions appear in my Content.

I may place affiliate links to other websites, agencies, or organisations I work with as part of this blog’s mission (i.e. sustainability advocacy, personal growth, conservation, writing). The linked site may pay me a commission for clicks at no cost to you. Any such income goes towards the cost of this blog, and/or causes associated with the blog’s mission.

Privacy Policy

I will keep private any personal details (including your contact information) that you provide on the Website when commenting, signing up for a newsletter, etc.

I won’t intentionally spam you and I won’t disclose your information to any companies or other parties without your consent. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of WordPress or my web host, Siteground.

Comments & Contact Form

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the form, and also the visitor’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL to help spam detection. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

When visitors contact me using the Website’s contact form, we similarly collect data shown in the form. This data is kept for up to one year from last interaction with the visitor, in order to sustain follow-ups in the topic concerned. They are not used for marketing purposes.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Newsletter sign-up

Information collected when signing up for my newsletter is collected in order to deliver the newsletter and will not be used for any other purpose without separate consent. You may opt out of my email newsletter at any time. Should you have any issues or problems unsubscribing, please contact me.

I use Mailchimp to manage the distribution list collected through sign-up forms on this website. Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy can be found here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

The website uses cookies, which are extracted for user analytics purposes to inform me on ways I could improve my site and content (I use Google Analytics and Shareholic plug-ins for this). I do not use this information for marketing (see Disclosures above). I do not collect the user data nor process it myself in any way. User data collected and used for this purpose through the plug-in is retained for 14 months, which is the minimum setting.
